Difference between App Profile Page and facebook Page

Quick History
When an application was created it came accompanied with an application profile page. This allowed your app to be more social providing a forum for discussions, feedback and updates. later on facebook introduced facebook pages. facebook pages and App pages are very similar yet very different in how and what they should be used for.

App Profile Page (Has now been discontinued)
Automatically created when you create an App.
Social contact for the App and its fans/users
Displays number of monthly users on left hand menu
Allows on point navigation to install use the app (“Go to “App Link on the top right.)
Can house more customised tabs
Has its own tab which can be added to its self.

Facebook Page
Created manually for any purpose
Displays number of likes on the left hand column
Is not tied into a particular App or profile
Does not have its own tab.
Does not have a review button on the left column

Functionality and layout
They both function the same way with both layouts similar. Both have insights which can be viewed analysed.

Usage
App profile page are used to promote and create a social interface for the app it was created for.
Facebook page is a representation of a business,organisation,blog etc on facebook in order to take advantage of the social network and tools available for better reach, communication and marketing.
